First we logged into our wake id accounts and checked out a Discovery Ed video regarding the components of an egg. Then we checked out the label to learn about key nutrition facts regarding protein, and fat. Next, we "got cracking"! We saved our shells for our compost pile, which we tomorrow will turn and gather soil for our next project - planting!
Everyone scrambled, cooked and of course ate their own eggs. We also read about hard boiling eggs and gave that a try too (this is where boiling point was discussed). We then wrote and drew what we remembered about key features of the egg.
This was the impetus for starting this project. We had eggs to dye for Easter. This tied our art project into a full curricular project w/ science, reading, writing, math (measurement for ingredients in dye - water, vinegar, food coloring), music and movement components. We used rubber bands to create our egg designs. After our eggs were complete we composed lyrics and put to a beat. G was our lead vocals, J and L worked on jumping, side step closes - and trying their best to move rhythmically. Here is the link to our music videos featuring Rapster G: https://youtu.be/7O5807RX9zg
