Today we did some research on rain and water. Resources we used included Ms. L'Heureux's citizen science video and water gauge create project, D news for informative videos on importance of water for our bodies, and Ms. Headley's resources for children's books pertaining to the water cycle. We made some predictions, drank a bottled water, took the water bottle flip challenge, recycled out water bottles- turning them into rain gauges which we will be monitoring over the next few weeks.....and of course headed out for our daily marathon challenge! Check out the links below for videos to view.

Today we designed and set up an obstacle course challenge. G, J and L all picked out equipment and designed course elements. Each part of the course was trialed to make sure it functioned properly.
We took time to draw our favorite challenge on the obstacle course, and noted our initial attempt time. It was a little challenging for the kinders to grasp a smart goal time. We identified lead measures - "practicing the part that is the hardest - like climbing down the wall!" G was challenged to write out the time of his results in expanded form. While J and L focused on how to read aloud time examples.
Animal Compare and Contrast: key vocab: carnivore, herbivore, cold blooded, scaley, reptile3/26/2020 Today we received an assignment from Kindergarten teachers at Washington - shout out to the amazing Ms. Clarke and Ms. Morrison. The twins picked animals they wanted to compare and contrast - all were in or around our house (sorry to the koi who were overlooked for furrier animals ;-). J went with rabbit and cat, while L chose snakes and dogs.
First we logged into our wake id accounts and checked out a Discovery Ed video regarding the components of an egg. Then we checked out the label to learn about key nutrition facts regarding protein, and fat. Next, we "got cracking"! We saved our shells for our compost pile, which we tomorrow will turn and gather soil for our next project - planting!
Everyone scrambled, cooked and of course ate their own eggs. We also read about hard boiling eggs and gave that a try too (this is where boiling point was discussed). We then wrote and drew what we remembered about key features of the egg.
This was the impetus for starting this project. We had eggs to dye for Easter. This tied our art project into a full curricular project w/ science, reading, writing, math (measurement for ingredients in dye - water, vinegar, food coloring), music and movement components. We used rubber bands to create our egg designs. After our eggs were complete we composed lyrics and put to a beat. G was our lead vocals, J and L worked on jumping, side step closes - and trying their best to move rhythmically. Here is the link to our music videos featuring Rapster G: https://youtu.be/7O5807RX9zg
